Driver Accused after crashing a Train

By Prashant Tambe
57-year-old Bergen man who authorities say was driving drunk caused a fiery crash with a train late Friday in the Genesee County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Timothy M. Brady, who was ticketed for driving while intoxicated, among other offenses, traveled around a safety barrier and onto a set of railroad tracks, deputies said.
The crash happened where the set of tracks crosses Townline Road in Bergen in the county's northeastern corner. Genesee County sheriff's deputies responded at 11:11 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-train collision and found the vehicle engulfed in flames.
The driver had run away but was soon found not far from the accident scene, the Sheriff's Office said.
Brady was also ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, refusal to take a breath test, driving around a railroad barrier and leaving the scene of the accident.
A Sheriff's Office statement doesn't indicate whether Brady or anyone else was injured. It also doesn't say what company operated the train nor how much the train was damaged.
